If anyone plays BFMEII on PC, does it seem kind of slow, or is it my computer. I am currently doing the basic tutorials, and when those soilders are running it looks like they are going in slow motion. Is my computer slow or something. I checked the system requirements, and I exceed them all (pretty much double or more).
I dont know what is wrong, or if this is part of the game.

I never noticed it being slow, its always worked normal for me and everyone else I know who plays. When you are playing online it lags sometimes, but it should be fine for the basic tutorials.

make sure you have any/all updates for the game. Also check to see if there's an updated driver for your videocard. INstall the latest version of DirectX, currently 9c for Win XP and 10 for Vista. Also, if you're running Vista try a compatibility mode for Win XP service pack 2. If that doesn't fix it then try a different mode. I think I out of ideas after that.

In the basic tutorial, the dudes run kind of slow, and the guide that is talking to you takes forever to say the next instruction. Also, is it possible that the game is not using both of the processors. Because I have a AMD turion 64 x2. Each one is running at 1.6ghz, which is the basic that the game needs. Could this be a problem?

hey I'm know genius but from that it looks like bfme 2 is just running off the 1 processor so might have to lower the graphics or lower screen resolution. but just my suggestion cause my comps only 1.9ghz and RAM is only 959.5 so i have to play on the worst graphics, still fun though. give us a yell if this worked

Here's the deal, The dual core processors only report as one processor to programs but the cores work in tandem to process the programs. The Windows system information shows two processors on my dual core machine. I'm thinking you're having some dirver issues. Try updating the the most current version of the NVidia Forceware driver. You can get it at www.nvidia.com. I would also look at your sound driver since it's also listing an unknown compatibility on the driver. Also, I was cchecking out the BFME: II web site and here's on estimated information for what is required for different level of gameplay: From what I can see you're graphics card may be the root of your issues. Try running on the lowest grapic settings to see what happens but try updating drivers as well. www.ea.com/official/lordoftherings/bfme2/us/home.jsp

I tried at a lower setting and it worked alright. Before that I did download the latest forceware, but it said it was incompatible, but I managed to find the right one, but it was the one I already had. So yea, it is still fun, but it is much more complicated than starcraft.

okay cool. I will set up my screen name later tonite. There are a lot of questions I have and I am a complete noob. Like how do I get control over more batalions (Men of the West)? Do I build more farms? Because I got destroyed on easy against the goblins in a 1v1 skirmish. I did not have enough dudes.
Oh and I probably wont actually start playing until after the 21st or so, because of finals.

Cool. And you probably have a lot of learning to do...it takes a while to figure things out. And to answer your questions specifically, let me give you quick run down of a good way to play a skirmish with men of the west. Start by building 2 farms. This will give you a solid early game economy. Then build a barracks and start building soldiers. They are your basic unit and crucial for early game play. Once you have 2 groups, attack the other base. Go for their resource buildings (men=farms, elves=mallorn trees, dwarves=mines, isenguard=furnaces, mordor=slaughter houses, goblins=tunnels). Resource buildings are vulnerable to slash damage (dealt by soldiers).
From you barracks you can also build tower guards (pikes). They are slow but strong and you need them to defend against enemy cavalry. They are also good for taking down enemy buildings such as barracks and forges.
To get archers you need to build an archery range. The basic unit is gondor archers. THey are cheap but not very good. You can upgrade the archery range to build rangers. They are really good, one of the best archer units in the game.
To get horses you need to build a stables. You can get two different kinds of horses. First are knights. They are tough and good early on. Later you can upgrade to the elite cavalry of middle earth: Rohirrim. Expensive but fast and deal a lot of damage.
VERY IMPORTANT: Men are a hero based faction. They have the best heroes in the game. You need to get out at least a couple. Your first hero choice is always Boromir. He is cheap (1100) and his horn of gondor changes every battle. It freezes all enemy units.
Next hero can either be Theoden or Eomer, if you have horses out. They give good leadership but are vulnerable to pikes, so be careful.
Your mid-game hero choice has to be Aragorn. He is considered the most over powered hero in the game. He costs 3000, but is well worth it. With his blademaster, he can take down a fortress by himself (if your careful). He also can self heal.
Later on you can get Gandalf, the most powerful hero in the game. He costs 5000 so you probably wont have many games where you can actually get him out.
You should also be trying to build a blacksmith. From there you can upgrade to forged blades and armor, making your units more powerful.
And keep building farms throughout the game. You will need to do this to keep you economy rolling and they also give you more command points, allowing you to build more units.

So when you build a farm, there is a percentage that comes up on the hologram. Is that percentage correspond to how efficient the farm is?

Correct. At 100%, you will get the maximum income from that farm. My first two farms I try to spot them at least at 97%. After that still try to maximize them, but space becomes limited so you take what you can get.
