So who's getting it? I've got it on pre-order and should be picking it up on release day. I probably won't be playing it until the next day though. Hopefully it won't suck.

I'm getting it on release day. Very little time on Tuesday to play, though. But I will play it Wednesday. A LOT.

i want reviews from people who play the multiplayer here. is it supposed to be any of the other halo's? if it plays like halo 1 or 2, or close. let me know. if it plays like halo 3.. don't bother.

Everything I've heard from the dev team is saying that it plays like Halo 1. Pistol and all. Less jump ability, health packs, yeah. MUCH closer to Halo 1 than 2 or 3.

I'm pretty sure Metalix said he's getting it.

Maybe you know this, but there is no new multiplayer in ODST besides firefight mode. Its basically a Halo 3 campaign extension. You will get 3 new H3 maps, but thats the extent of new multiplayer stuff.
The next complete new Halo game is Halo Reach, coming out late 2010.
But I am looking forward to playing some co-op campaign on line, as well as firefight, but I can't imagine I will play that after a few months. I pre-ordered online, so I will probably be playing at the end of the week.

I'm also reading that it is best to play through first by yourself then do co-op. The atmosphere is killed with co-op help.
But the 2nd CD it comes with is supposed to just be Halo 3 multiplayer. If it's actually the multiplayer to where I don't need the game disc for H3, I'll be happy. I can trade that in for 10 bucks towards Modern Warfare 2.

Its received good reviews from all the gaming web sites, much like Halo 1, 2, and 3. My guess is that if you are a fan of playing campaign, you will enjoy it. But it won't have lasting appeal due the lack of complete multiplayer, that is to be expected. Its basically something to keep all those employees at bungie busy, as well as keeping fans happy til Halo Reach comes out. Bungie has a change to redeem its self with that game, although I would expect a game much like H3, but there is always hope for H3 caliber graphics and gimmicks with H1 style gameplay...

Its funny to see that bungie (or microsoft? or whatever who the hell knows) is doing all it can to squeeze out all the money from the Halo franchise.

If I ran a business, I'd do the same exact thing.

If I ran a business, I'd do the same exact thing. Absolutely. I still pillage the MLG forums and there are 10 threads a day there on why Halo 3 sucks, how much they hate bungie, blah blah blah. And I agree that the competitiveness of Halo has gone downhill with each game. One might hope for some sort of competitive multiplayer liaison from an organization like MLG, but who knows what they really do. I can't really blame them for giving the masses what they want.

Exactly. MLG is a small minority. Everyone has seen me go from a play for fun to MLG to back to playing for fun type of player. I've learned that very few people play MLG as a whole, and only a small portion of those players have the mentality to play competitively.
Bungie would be dumb to change anything in their game for MLG. They gave them a gametype; that's more than enough.

So far, the game is fun. Doesn't really feel like a Halo to me.
But 2 skulls are insanely easy to find. The third is making my brain hurt...

It seems like a fun game. I watched Metalix and his brother play for a little while. The like... uh... horde mode thing seems like a lot of fun, but when you're down to one guy, he hides.
