Hey guys, haven't talked with you all in ages. Glad to see things are still going well Anyways, we are kicking off this big tournament called March Madness and wanted to invite you all to participate if you were interested. It's not a clan challenge or anything like that but I didn't really know where else to place this. Feel free to move it to where ever if need be. We are giving away some sweet prizes so I hope to see you all participate.
FYI - Major wall o text incoming but it is worth the read. If you have any questions feel free to ask away!

Hello everyone! We're kicking off a contest that will be open to all invited gaming communities from the Cavegirls to Podtacular. We're giving away some really great gifts this month as part of AoR's plan of 2009 to give back and reach out to all the communities we've crossed paths over the years. Many of us came together on Halo 3. It's a staple title for FPS and many of us still play it each night. And since 2008 was such a great year, we're now also playing Gears of War 2, Call of Duty 4, Rock Band 2, Left 4 Dead, Call of Duty: World at War, Viva PiƱata 2: TiP and anyway, some of us have moved on to newer titles. Well, this contest is a method to bring us all back together to play for great prizes on the titles of 2008 we loved so much! The contest is 4 weeks long of 3 separate events and don't worry; there is no scheduling of matches, games or anything else. You will have a whole week, and in the case of one of the events, 2 whole weeks to compete on your own or with your friends. We're all really busy and this will give us all the opportunity to throw down and still not spend hours waiting for teammates, playing matches and rescheduling games. So what is this? There are 3 events in total and you can either sign up for one of the events or all three. The advantage of doing all 3 is that at the end of the Circuit if you have the most points you get a prize, just like a circuit on Mario Kart or need I mention, Nascar, where each participant receives points for how he/she places in each event. The top 10 particpants will get points, from 10 points for 1st place all the way down to 1 point for 10th place.
So, what are the prizes? Each event has its own prize and is for first place only and is the following:
Our first event will begin at the stroke of midnight on Saturday, but technically Sunday morning. The leaderboards on the Gears of War 2 website as some of you know are able to tabulate stats for the week and the week alone. We plan to take advantage of this and use it for our first circuit event. The week runs from Sunday to Sunday. You will have exactly one week to score as many points as you can in multiplayer play online on the following gametypes: Warzone, Guardian and Execution. They are all Elimination gametypes. We included all Elimination gametypes so in case you play a gametype you just can't stand you'll still get your points for the event. We've developed a formula to help out those who will not play as much as others, this way it's not about how many games you play but rather, the quality of the games you play. The minimum of games you must play in the week is 25. We will see just how many games you've played so be sure to play 25 or more in the course of the week. There is no maximum limit of games.
You are allowed to play with friends, randoms, allies, it makes no difference. Play your best every game and come out on top with the most points as often as you can whenever you have time to play and at the end of the week if you have the most points you will win an XBOX 360 with a 20 GB hard drive, the new L227WTG 22 inch LG lcd monitor, VGA connector to hook it up to your XBOX 360 and then a new pair of the original gaming headset, the Turtle Beach X1.
So, how do I get in on this?
It's simple. If you only plan on participating in this event or all 3 and you are not a regular member of AoR you just need to register on our forums and then introduce yourself in the Visitors section HERE. Just say Hi to the community and tell us about yourself. It's important that you do this because if you don't, unfortunately we cannot honor your score. It takes a minute and we'd hate to miss out on meeting some new great people out there. After the week is over we will declare a winner and if you've won we will contact you via XBL, our forum and acquire your address so I can send you the goods! Keep in mind that the results may overlap into the next contest and that should be expected. If you plan on doing all 3 events for the entire Circuit focus on the current event for that week and as soon as the results are official they will be posted.
What: Gears of War 2 - Elimination Gametypes
When: March 1 - March 7
How: Register on Gamingrepublic.org, introduce yourself in Visitors section and then sign up in 7 Days of Genocide thread in the March Madness forum.
Why: Because you have eliminatin' skillz son.
If any of you are familiar with what is known as the Sarkathlon, featured by G4, you'll know it was a world wide contest on an obstacle course. This past year, the winner received Recon Armor provided by Bungie themselves. I tried it myself and it was a lot of fun! Our second Circuit event is very similar and with a smaller number of people participating, you're sure to have a chance to win the grand prize: An XBOX 360 with 20GB hard drive, the new L227WTG 22 inch LG lcd monitor, VGA connector to hook it up to your XBOX 360 and then a new pair of the original gaming headset, the Turtle Beach X1.
The gametype is VIP and it is a variation of Escort VIP so there will be waypoints to follow that will guide you through the course. At some points it will be necessary to stray off the course for certain items that will enable you to continue on and you will figure out what and where they are. You are not limited to any particular method of travelling, though there are only mongeese on the map and I would not recommend walking if you don't have to. The only waypoint that has a bit of mystery to it and will more than likely separate a majority of the times between all the entries is the 9th waypoint in which you will pick up a sniper rifle and shoot 8 Fusion Coils that are within view from the platform and you must shoot them all before exiting the platform and continuing on the obstacle course. You can not, and I stress this, you can not leave the platform to shoot the 8 Fusion Coils. You must shoot all 8 Fusion Coils from the platform. Grenade jumping and Kangaroo hopping are allowed on the course.
So, how do I get in on this?

Just say Hi to the community and tell us about yourself. It's important that you do this because if you don't, unfortunately we can't honor your time. It takes a minute and we'd hate to miss out on meeting some new great people out there. Afterwards, wait until March 7 at midnight and then download the map, gametype from my fileshare and go to work! The map, gametype and tutorial video on my fileshare will not be available until then. When you feel you have the best time, send me the film clip via Halo 3 on XBL and I'll check it out. I will update the Avalanche Off Road thread with the highest times and if you see your time isn't as good as the top spots, keep working on it and keep submitting the films. After the 2 weeks I will declare a winner and if you've won I will contact you via XBL and our forum and acquire your address so I can send you the goods! Keep in mind that the results may overlap into the next contest and that should be expected. If you plan on doing all 3 events for the entire Circuit focus on the current event for that week and as soon as the results are official they will be posted.

The last event of the circuit is called Riot Runner. This is the only event that can actually be played on two games, Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare and Call of Duty: World at War. Playing on both or on either does not give you an advantage. Your mission is to have the biggest Kill Streak in the course of one week. It doesn't matter what gametype you play and whether it's with friends, randoms or allies. It makes no difference. Naturally, some gametypes will lend themselves to providing larger kill streaks than others and you will have to figure out what those are. Here is the only stipulation to this fairly simple contest! VERY IMPORTANT!! Since all of us who have played this game already have a current Kill Streak record, you will have to break this current record to submit a Streak. It is the only way to make this fair. We cannot reward you for something you did last year or 3 months ago. Here's how it would break down:
If your current streak is at 22, you cannot submit a kill streak of 19 kills because you cannot prove that you did it recently. However, if you happen to score a 37 kill streak during the week of the event then this will count and be your official score. You can continuously break your record over and over. At the end of the week all entrants will have their barracks checked out to validate their scores and once that is completed a winner will be announced. First place gets an XBOX 360 with a 20 GB hard drive, the new L227WTG 22 inch LG lcd monitor, VGA connector to hook it up to your XBOX 360 and then a new pair of the original gaming headset, the Turtle Beach X1. Before this event kicks off entrants must send the gamertag AoR Kid Tiger a friend request so that your current Kill Streak can be recorded. And it is OK to make a new gamertag or use one you normally don't use to avoid having to break a 250 Kill Streak just to beat the top Streak of 75. Just be sure to add AoR Kid Tiger with the gamertag you intend to use. You are not allowed to use one Gamertag for one game and a different Gamertag for another, only one for both. Push yourself!

Disclaimer: You cannot win more than 1 grand prize in the tournament. If you win a second event, you will receive a snazzy, framed picture of a screenshot for that particular game to hang on your wall. The first place player will still receive first place points towards his Circuit stats. If you have won a grand prize for one of the events and you place first in the entire circuit you cannot receive the Circuit Grand Prize. You will only receive the honorary framed picture for the tournament. All ties will be handled on a case by case basis.
