Surprised to here that. I was under the impression that Civils use this a lot. By the way Zanger what programs do you use at work? Civil 3D? autocadd? sap?

We have MATLAB on our computers, it is used occasionally. I haven't used it for anything though.
We use AutoCad for all our drafting (and now Revit for 3D design models). A lot of Etabs (which is basically SAP for buildings) SAFE (SAP for foundations), Risa3D, RAM, Enercalc, and some other small ones. And excel, complicated spreadsheets with scripts are part of every project.
