Yeah, but the sound of it spinning loudly non-stop is what gives it away. I just boot up whatever game I want to sneak onto before going downstairs so they don't hear it boot up.

keep in mind the disk still needs to be in the drive for you to play. The system still does a check to make sure you actually own a copy of the game. Then what the hell is the point?

shorter load times? maybe it just has to do with shooters, but in any game i've played.. the maps from the disc load faster than the ones from the hdd.

I will definitely agree with Tyler. When I download new maps from Bungie (don't really play any other games =/ ) they take longer compared to the ones preloaded on the disc. And to do a check doesn't the disc have to be spinning anyways? Or does it do a quick check then stop?

thats what the PS3 does, but you don't get a choice. You have to do it.

i have a feeling this is going to be at the least a semi-disappointment for anyone who expects it to be good
it will be convenient i suppose for those that have the larger HDD's, the new layout of the dashboard is the only thing that i'm looking forward to.

Yeah i have like 40 videos on mine and like 3 game demos. i think i have less then 3 gigs left. But, I don't really like the interface of the new dashboard, it just doesn't feel as simple and smooth the last one is. But, I guess i do like the new avatars.

it was better than i expected, looks better, runs better, ie. no lag when i'm playing a game and hit the dashboard button to send a message to someone or something. party system is good.. avatars are funny. i thought the themes were going to change more, but they really don't, too bad. dunno anything about the loading a game from the hdd thing, not enough room for that fancy stuff.

I'm not sure if anyone here has a 120GB HDD, but if you do, or have installed a game, please tell us if it runs faster.
But, Bungie apparently released a statement saying that installing Halo 3 causes it to run slower. I will attempt to delete one more gig of stuff to install NCAA Football 09.
Update: Installing now. Will tell on Saturday if it runs smoother or not. No gaming time friday. Finals at school, bowling team tryouts, and work.
