Hey guys I'm looking to spoil myself with a home theatre system for my room, only problem is I don't have the slightest clue on what is quality when it comes to speakers. So if anybody can give me some advice on what to look for from the speakers, such as frequency, wattage or anything that of that sort would be really helpful. It would be much appreciated.

Get a home theatre in a box. Make sure it's at least 5.1 surround sound and do some research before buying. Make sure it has all the features you want including number and type of connections. I bought an Onkyo 7.1 home theatre in a box and I love it. I got it at tiger direct for around $599.

Yeah, you can't go wrong with a decent in-box set up. Especially for a bedroom, the speakers and subwoofer specs will probably be more than okay. The critical part is the connections to all your components. I don't know what you will be hooking up or what kind of TV or whatever you have, but there is a preferred way to set it all up.
BTW, Rick, I also have an Onkyo 7.1 home theater...couldn't be more happy with it.

Looking at these two so far: Click 1Click 2If I get the first I'm planning on keeping it until my dad finishes his game room 100% and giving it to that room where it will be used to it's fullest potential.

The first is a good one. I think it's the one I have. DOn't be fooled by the HDMI though if you're planning on using them. They are just pass through HDMI ports so if you want the audio, which is why you would be buying it, you have to run a separate audio cable for each component. I use the component inputs which are the same quality as the HDMI with the appropiate audio cable, either optical or coxial, both of which have the same quality for sound. Both choices are good. I bought the 7.1 for the HD support and the fact that I won't have to upgrade for a while. As for a game room I would suggest something that is THX certified to get the most out of movies. Here's an Onkyo system at Tiger Direct that is THX certified. It's the same as the one you have posted, just with the THX stuff. If you're on a budget and want something now go with a 5.1 system or maybe a 6.1. This will last you a while as Blu-Ray players are still pricey and most people don't really notice the difference between 5.1, 6.1 and 7.1 anyway if the speakers are properly placed. =edit= Here's the one I have: www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?Sku=O22-1010

Thanks Rick and Jeremy! I went with the second one for myself and am loving it! The only thing that made me upset was that the Circuit City guy told me this optical wire worked on my xbox and it does not at all. So I'm just going to return that. I plan on buying my dad the one that Rick posted for the game room. =)

You need an optical connection for the 360 to have the 5.1 surround sound. The port is on the AV connector cable on the end that connects to the xbox. Unless it has a really huge connector on it the optical should work fine.
