The stasis pod that chief got into will keep him in suspended animation until he's awoken. It will also prevent aging. Thus he could stay that way until he is woken up by someone or Cortana.

G4 TV all ready said they are making another one continuing the game I heard that too, but, that could easily be a rumor. I extremely doubt they would finish Halo 3 and start on Halo 4 right away. |

Why not? That's pretty much what they did with Halo 3 after Halo 2. It takes a long time to develop the story for the next series. They could already be hard at work on the next installment.

Halo3 made 300mil in the first week. That is why they will make another game. They have no reason not to make more money.
