Ok.. besides Roggie's favorites for GCN, theres also Baten Kaitos and Baten Kaitos 2. AMAZING graphics actually... very realistic. Though.. its kinda a card RPG in a way. But, apparently its good. and then, theres Evolution Worlds. Basically, its Evolution 1 and 2: the dreamcast's best RPG series. I HIGHLY recommend those also. And, for less than $20 what do u have to lose?

I forgot about Baiten Kaitos. Those were amazing as well. Well, the first one at least, I never even knew there was a sequel.

I cant stand rpgs that have utterly fucking ridiculous looking characters.. like romancing saga, what abunch of shit that was... but radiata stories is a good rpg for those looking for a laid back rpg.. and I hear nothing but good things about steambot chronicles.

thats a shame man, considering there were loads of awesome rpgs on snes.... ff turned gay after the 7th, and kinda redeemed itself with ffX, but the turned heels over head a nd sprayed shit back into the air with ffx-2 (what a load of tripe.)

uhmm, FFVII is the most overrated game ever, most people who say it's amazing have never played it, and are just going with the masses. The storyline isn't good for a FF game, and Cloud pisses me off. FFX is great, Titus is the 3rd greatest RPG character ever, after Kratos from ToS and Auron. FFX-2 actually was really good.

wow that was the single most outrageous thing ive ever heard. x-2 was fucking horrible, the entire thing was just one big dress up game. FFX was decent.. would never go as far as great.. and ff7 was great because of the time it came out, no one had ever seen anything like it before, or played anything like it before. it was revolutionary. Given, not the best ff story line, but it was the best game to utilize its story line in the ff series so far (or the ones i've played) now if we all really wanna get into hardcore best ff game ever, it would have to be ff3.. and if you disagree may your balls be chopped off fed to your father. amen. Personally may favorite to this day is the first final fantasy... just because it helped paved the way for the rest of the rpgs... even though dragon quest was better and ff ripped it off.. but oh well.. w/e FF was still better *ranting now, so ill shut up*
P.S. ff13 or w/e the new one is (i dont know if that roman number is 12 or 13 lol) is going to suck.. hard. i played the demo and ff might as well be dead. because with the release it will never be ff again.. but a flying piece of dog bile.

It's FFXII, which is 12. I had FFVII when it came out, and I never saw what was all revolutionary about it, all I saw was a pathetic storyline for a FF game. FFX-2, once you got past the retarded dresspheres, you could actually see a good storyline in it, and the Dresspheres did help the game, it made it so you could get what's good or bad, if you want the game easy or hard. FFX was great to me because it got me back into RPGs, and Wakka, Tidus, and Rikku are some of my favorite characters from anything. The storyline was amazing (not as good at ToS, nor as confusing), and the graphics were good. And I still enjoy the good old Turn Based RPG.

Graphics, content, game play, lvl'ing system, materia system, the loads of sidequests, the fact that it set the bar for every other rpg that came out after that. Thats why FF7 was revolutionary.
and no, x-2 had the shittiest storyline ever "OH I miss tidus boo fuckin hoo, im all confused and shit" and even then x-2 had no real storyline.. all you did was fly around and find shit...once inawhile the storyline came into play...other then that you pretty much on your own. which made the game -horrible-. If you are going to freebase a game make it all freebase, just not certain aspects.
But yes, I agree with you that FFX revived the series. and peoples interests. but what was so pathetic about the ff7 storyline? it pretty much followed the basic criteria for -ALL- rpgs.

I didn't like the storyline because I didn't like any of the Characters. In RPGs, I've always been able to relate to the main character. I could never do that with any character in that game, and the storyline bored me because of it.

....how could you relate to any characters in any rpg? when did you get charged with the duty of saving the world from an evil entity? and just because you couldn't "relate" to any of the characters of an rpg -does not- mean it isnt a good rpg, it just means you don't like it. so quit talking out your ass =P
