Mod-hq is reporting that the Half-Life 2 expansion "Aftermath" will be released on April 24th. Doug Lombardi of Valve confirmed this report himself. Also released on April 24th will be a "Platinum" package for Half-Life 2, which will include the following: Half-Life 2, Half-Life 2 DeathMatch, Counter-Strike: Source, Day of Defeat: Source and of course Aftermath. Half-Life 2: Aftermath is an expansion to the multiple game of the year winner Half-Life 2. The game is set ironically right after the end of Half-Life 2, where you have dealt a serious blow to the Combine, and the Citadel itself is exploding around you. Gordon Freeman, and Alyx will both be playable. City 17 itself will of course have changed in the expansion, monsters previously off limits will now appear. Not much else is known about the storyline, but being a Valve game, we can be sure it will be a blast.
ok i know im kinda new to the half-life universe .but i thought half life 2 ended with a cliff hangar..just because of the what the guy in the suit said......however the way that they phrase "The game is set ironically right after the end of Half-Life 2" i mean how is that ironic...that just makes sence...however half life 2 didn't end where half life1 did...(i cant say that for sure having never beaten the game, but in half life 1 i dont remember the combine)......... my question is is half life 2 going to be a different universe..does that make sence?

Definently go play Half Life 1 all the way through and beat the end. We couldn't really tell, but the alien border world, Xen, is controlled by the combine. If you're wanting to know more about the Half Life(2) storyline without having to sit there and figure it out (like I did) check this site out: users.757.org/~tim/hl_story/It pretty much hits the nail on the head. Oh, the 'guy in the suit' is the GMan. Please call him that from now on

Well HL2: Aftermath shall hence be known as HL2: Episode 1: When asked whether the name change is indicative of a change in direction for the Half-Life 2 franchise, Valve marketing director Doug Lombardi replied, "episodic." When asked the follow-up question of whether the new name meant that beginning of a regular flow of content, Lombardi replied, "yes." Sweet, this means a possible HL2: Episode 2, and 3 and so on. The HL2 universe shall continue. Lets just hope they don't delay each episode by a year... Peace kiddies.
