I am curious about half life 2 for xbox, but I can commit the greatest sin of all and play it on xbox before PC. And Rory, there is a multiplayer version for PC.

Rory, consoles are just PC with only one purpose - gaming. PC will always have better graphics because you can upgrade components.

i beat this game a few days ago..but i only have 2 complaints about it....1 if u havn't beat half life 1 u will be confused for the ending....and there are a few SEVERE fram rate issues where the frame rate slows down (i think that this will be solved if u play on a 360 but im not sure) even though i have never beat half life 1(i played a pirated versio) i was still able to follow along the story.. the guns are really cool but they are heavily auto aimed!...every gun has the same rectum even the pistol and cross bow....but each have different abilities so it makes up for it i wish there was mulitiplayer for this game but at the same time i am glad there isn't..i want there to be multiplayer becaues it would be cool to play ctf and stuff with cool valve maps...but the only reason i dont want there to be multiplayer is because the damn auto aims on the weapons...U HARDLY EVEN HAVE TO AIM!!!!but whatever i want to make a special note of the rocket launcher..... the rocket launcher in this game is the kind of rocket launcher every game should have......it has a laser thingy so where ever u point the laser is where the rocket will go...and the rockets can be shot down...very cool....but if bungie makes halo 3 i think they should get rid of the auto lock on rocket and have the lazer guide rocket like in half life 2..... There is a multiplayer. Half Life 2 Deathmatch, it's free to anybody that legally bought Half Life 2, and available through steam. I play it a lot, it's a good ole classic deathmatch, its great. There is a Half Life 2 CTF mod, and its great. Here's the link: www.hl2ctf.com/You can turn the auto aim off. In the multiplayer the auto aim, is off by default, and the gameplay is insanely fast and fun.

but zangief...the only downside to computers is...u can have a top of the line computer one day..adn the next day u need to upgrade it .....
thats where consols take the lead...with a console u dont have to really worry if the game is going to work or not..u just put it in and go..
granted with a keyboard its more customizable..and u can bind moves and stuff to a certain key ..but ..i always got confused and i kept redoing all my keys.....and ur mouse and keyboard dont vibrate..i like controllers
we can actually go on and on to the pros and cons to computer vs console for a long time !

Yes consoles are much simpler, which is why they are so popular. But they don't have any sort of edge because as soon as new hardware comes out, you can upgrade your PC. You can't do that with you console, thus making it out of date really fast.

Very true...use the 360 for example. It's only backwards compatable if you have the hard drive which costs an additional $100 if you didn't get the premium system. Plus, almost all of the new games are made solely for the 360 so those of us with older xboxes cannot enjoy them unless we go out and buy the new hardware. I can get a computer with better specs for the price of a 360 premium system with the add-ons that I want. (headset, extra controllers, etc..)
I agree that consoles are simpler but they're that way to satisfy the market. If they made the consoles upgradable most people would not buy them. Actual desktop PC's will always have a graphics edge of the set top box.

With all the limitations of consoles is a wonder they are so popular. But as Rick said, they satisfy the market. Simplicity is what people want. For lack of a better phrase, most people are noobs when it comes to computers, especially gaming. People don't know how to provide general maintainace for their PC, let alone how to optimize it for high intensity gaming. That is why there will always be a huge market for consoles.
Plus the industry can never make up its mind on a standard. There are so many different options and formats for everything. After a while something may become standard, but it is short lived. Look at DVD's. They are good qualilty right? But technology is around that will replace our current DVD format. They can't make up their mind whether they want to use Blue ray dvd's or HD dvd's. They list goes on and on.
