Fused Animals or Other Objects

In high school, my teacher showed us some really cool pics of fused animals. There was like a dog with an eagles head, and a little baby chick with bat teeth. They all looked really awesome, and the blending was just so natural they actually looked real.

He said that all of these projects were made from photoshop, but I can't seem to blend that well. I have tried this before (but failed), but I want to do it again. If anyone has any experience in this I would appreciate a few pointers or tutorial websites.

It was a Slideshow of all these crazy images that this guy made in Photoshop.

Most were weird blending jobs. I'll try to find it.
