Is there an easier way to extract the master chief from different backgrounds on photoshop, without using the extract command.

The extract command? I am not sure what you mean by this one.
The only way to do it is to cut him out. I usually start with the magnetic lasso tool, it will give you a good start. It may miss some corners or where the colors are similar. You can clean it up with the regular lasso tool. Hold shift to add to the selection and alt to subtract from the selection.
Try the magic wand tool, but if there are too many colors, then it will be hard to use.

you can fool around with the setting of the font by double clicking on the font layer. A window will pop up with a bunch of options. Click and unclick to your delight!! (BTW this will be included in my tutorial when I make one).
