Well cobrely, it is a nice idea, but here is the problem. There are only a few members of this clan who can buy their own t-shirts because most every one is still in high school. They would have to ask their parents for a check or something and they may have already bought a shirt.

Edwards isn't hand picked...it's a curse to most who get assigned here. The planes don't fly much because of all the modifications they go through then the fly the crap out of them then they sit for demod and start all over again but it's for the betterment of the warfighter. I'm an E-6 been in 12 years now. What is it you dso at Pope? I work the C-17 program and recently transferred to the C-130 Avionics Modernization Program Logistics Test and Evaluation program. So I get to see first hand the glass cockpit upgrade for the mighty herc.

WE are the en route Sq, pretty much all SF an about 75% AB come through us we maintain all the airframes required, we do CAPSTONE demo's, an JA-FEK's missions, I'm originally a C-5 CC I flew out of Dover for about 2 years as a SOLL II CC, :'(They I got stationed here in 2000 during the AMC thingy, they lost the SOLL II program to C-17 in late 00, early 01, so now I want CAFB, but they are "full" of 7 -L so I have to wait, so now I'm putting in for Incirlick, or how ever you spell that, Yea I hit my 9 year mark this year, I came in late, I didn't even study last year cause I thought I was getting out, but this year I'm taking that test my the balls an making it say "DADDY PLEASE... PLEASE STOP" lol WE see alot of the work you do...lol I like that so called ejection thing on that test C-17 I think I would rather try the aft ramp then that thing, it looks like it would work in level flight....BUT if you need to use it ..most likely you won't be to level..I'm waiting for the C-5 mods, have you seen those? new engines/apu , avionics, MADAR, an DC system, but in my opinion they need to replace the BTC's they SUCK, I've never had problems with the DC, but BTC stick, an yea I can smack it to make it work but the flight crews won't take it unless we are down range...but oh well they know what there doing llloooollll , I bet you get a real kick seeing there choices first hand... I was always under the impression that the guys there where hand picks..hummm oh well, is BRAC hitting you guys? I don't pay attention to stuff on the west coast

I have the shirts, I already bought them all, we don't have a cafepress store set up because the apparel doesn't seem popular enough. And since I already forked over the money myself in advance, it comes at a price for me to give up the shirts with no one paying for them. So for me, it is not worth the money.

I was at Dover for 6 1/2 years before doing a VECAP (BOP) to Edwards. I was assigned to the Blue side and was the DCC for 9027. ( I miss my airplane ) I know all too well about the BTC and the beatings that they take just to unstick them. I cahnged many on the blocks and then prayed that the crew would ops chk it so we didn't have to do a complete maintenance run. The test C-17 you saw (T-1) was hand built back in the late 80's early 90's. It's the only one with the escape hatch on it and also the mezzanine. You have our other one out there right now. C-17 03003121 is doing airdrop testing. As far as the C-5 AMP I haven't seen it as of yet but I do see some of the metrics for it. They just received an award for getting 25% of the test schedule done in 30 days, 30 flts for 188 hours. Pretty impressive. I don't think they've started with the new engines yet. They're also getting ready to go around the work for proof test of the systems. I was trying to get a TDY to help out with it but that hasn't panned out. They're talking France, Hawaii, Australia, Japan, Alaska, and I think the North Pole fly over again. Not sure about anywhere else. I hear that Turkey is a nice assignment. Not the best but better than most. I've never been stationed overseas. All my time is stateside with a few TDY's here and there. Edwards is on the BRAC for realignment. We actually picked up some missions from other bases, but the maintenance group is running a high performance organization realignment that is taking 900 military aircraft mechanic positions (flightline and backshop) and returning them to the real AF. (I can tell you that while we have our place at the blunt end of the spear this is not the real AF). They're hiring 453 civilians to take over the jobs. I'm not sure yet if my position is going to be affected but they did state that all the long term folks would be the first to go. Luckily for me there's people that have been here almost 10 years.

Might I ask to start a new thread or continue this on email or AIM/MSN? Lets keep this thread as discussion for the t-shirt battle idea.
