TDC ranking system

Ok so I want to get the ranking system up and running. This will be accomplished in the form of a ladder. The way a ladder works is there is an initial ranking of each clan member. To move up the rankings, a lower ranked member must beat a higher ranked member. The lower member then moves half the distance between their ranks upward. Hence climbing the ladder. For example if #6 ranked s3xy beats #2 ranked Big Spene, s3xy moves to #4. Big Spene will stay the same rank. You can only be passed up by someone else, you don't drop when you lose. When back to back ranked members battle, if the lower ranked member wins they simply switch ranks. As far as the initial rankings are concerened, I just used kill to death ratio based on the current statistics. Here is how it turned out:

7. Mershmellow
8. Everybody
9. Ragin Ronin
10. fusion
11. ender
12. asian spence
13. bones

18. GoD

I think the best way to do this is to have 1 v 1 matches. So if you want to battle someone from the clan and try and move up the ladder, contact that person and set up a 1 v 1 match. I would suggest doing best 2 out of 3 slayer matches. Both participants should then contact me by posting in the forums or emailing me and let me know the results. I will then update the website.

So, who's ready to take on #1? I know big spene has already challenged me, and he has beaten me 1 on 1 plenty of times before, we will see how it turns out.

What I think I am going to to is reverse the ranking order to start. That way our best killers have to climb their way to the top. That means that GoD would have the #1 ranking and Zangief is #18.

Please post all of your suggestions and comments here. I would like everyone to participate in the ladder.

frankly i am insulted that i am ranked 7th. i know this is knew and everything and its for fun, but kill to death ratio doesn't mean that much when you go for flags all the time and try and win. maybe i should just camp warps and walk around blood gulch and not worry about winning or anything else. you guys can get your own flags

I knew you were going to cry about the initial rankings matt. Like I said, it only reflects kill to death ratio. And it is just to start. I am sure you will climb the ladder in no time. If you want an initial ranking system that reflects flags and time we can try to factor that in somehow.

i think we should leave the order where it is b/c a lot of the people don't play often so it will be hard to challenge peeps. if people are ranked lower then they need to take the initiative to play and post stats. also they are not sending post games in. the people who are ranked high have earned it especiall me and zangief b/c we have played so many games.
and i am ranked #2...soon to be #1

Big Spene brings up a good point. It seems that some of the clan members have not been playing much lately (at least that I know of). In that case, clan members who do not participate in the ladder will automatically be dropped below those who do.

an excellent idea. it should promote you who don't play often to play and retain your dignity, otherwise merschmellow will climb the latter faster.

but on the other hand those who don't play often probably aren't reading this message or even posting in the forums.
