No but the initial setup might take a little longer than usual. Try shutting off all the extra crap that comes with it and see what happens.

Look up information about a slow boot on the manufacturers web site. It also may make a difference whether or not it is plugged in. Most mobile processors step down the speed when they run on battery power to give you greater battery life.
Another suggestion would be to restore it but do not install all the extra stuff. This usually helps a bit.

Laptops always take a long time to boot up. Just keep it on standby all the time if you dont want to worry about waiting for it to boot up.

Hey Rick, i have lightscribe on this laptop, and i was wondering how it works. I mean where does it get the ink and stuff. (I have not tried it however, and i dont know what the results look like)

There isn't any ink for lightscribe. It uses the same laser to burn the image into the top of the disk, much like it burns the data onto the bottom of the disk. They've made advances withthe lightscribe that should allow you to burn color images instead of the grayscale like I had. It's really neat to do but takes about 30 minutes for a good image. The disks are expensive so use the sparingly.

Not if you want to use the lightscribe function otherwise if you're just burning a disk you can use any one but you'll need the lightscribe disks to use the lightscribe function
