Make sure that all the computers you want to share files on are in the same workgroup. Run the home and office setup wizard in the my network places. Tell it to turn on the file a printer sharing so you can share the folders across the network.
To check the workgroup name for your network right click on my computer and select properties. Then select the computer name tab. The name of the workgroup will be displayed half way down the page. Add your laptop to the workgroup that the other computers are on or add them to the same workgroup as your laptop, it doesn't really matter.
This should get you up and running.

Then you need to enable the file and printer sharing. To check to see if it's installed goto my network places then click on the network connections. Fromthere select the network adapter that you're using to connect to the network (wireless or LAN) right click and select properties. You should see the QoS protocol, client for MS networks TCP/IP and file and printer sharing.
If file and printer sharing is not there then you need to install it. Click the add button then select protocol. One the list ocmes up select the file and printer sharing one and click ok. Continure to click ok until you return to the network properties page the click apply then ok. You'll probably need to restart after this is done.
If it is there then close all the windows and open windows explorer. Pick the folder you want to share and right click on it. Then select sharing and security. A warning may pop-up asking you if you really want to enable sharing. Select yes. A window should open and in the middle it'll have the sharing information. Check the box that states 'share this folder on the network. If you want to be able to copy and delete files from a different computer then enable the other check box for allowing users to change the files.

yea i think the file sharing is enabled on all computers. And when i explored for the files i was sharing there was no security and sharing option (Maybe it is the fact that they are already being shared). Here is what is going on so far. My laptop can access my shared folder and my sisters, so nothing is wrong with that. My sisters computer can see's only my computer and hers on the network, and she can access my folder. And, my computer see's only my own shared folder and my sisters and not my laptops. Additionally my computer cant access my sisters shared folder.
Also, on my laptop the shared folders for my comp and my sisters comp appear under the Internet catagory in my network places. And mines and my sisters computer sees the two folders under the Local ARea network catagory. So yea, its pretty messed up. I dunno. I think i will just leave it. But if you have something else i can try thats cool.
