So I tried to save some money on the new pc and I reused my DVD burner. I was having some problems with it but I thought adding it to the system would possibly fix it. It's an internal IDE drive that was in an external case hooked to my laptop. It worked fine the entire time until I upgraded the firmware. After that it wouldn't burn dvd's. So I though maybe it was a bad flash and I'd fix it in the new machine. I've since reflashed it 4 times and now HP is telling me my drive is defective. It's only a year and 7 months old! What crap. I'm sure it's out of warranty so I'll be getting a new drive. The odd thing is it'll still burn CD-R's and read disks fine.
Maybe I'll price a SATA burner.

That sucks. It's still better than having a fried graphics card or a DVD drive that won't spin discs, though.

I suppose but it sucks none the less. So much for saving a few bucks.
