ok i have internet and everything..but when i go through the system check to get on live everything works except for the MTU....i says Xbox Live requires so much of this before Xbox live will work......it said it needs like 1364...but it said i need to change the settings on the router...but i dont think my router is xbox live compatible.

Direct Connect. That usually solves all that stuff.

^^That's one way to fix it. THe other is to log into your router and change the MTU to 1364. There should be an indepth manual on the CD that came with the router or you can go the manufacturers site and download the manual. This will tell you how to log into the router and it will tell youwhich tab the MTU setting are on.
If you list the router information I'll try to find it for you. Also, didn't you just goto college? If so are you living int he college dorms or off campus. This could make a difference.

i remember i had a problem like this on my xbox 1 at one point and changing the router settings didn't solve anything ...i had to call my isp and they mucked around on their end and fixed it
but i dont exactly remember what the problem was

yea i would always direct connect when my sister wasn't using the wireless computer, in turn using the router. until I updated something it laggggged.

If direct connect didn't work, then my guess is it is some setting in your modem that is off. I had to go and fix mine at first, because it had the port for the xbox blocked.
