I'm thinking about purchasing a capture card, but I need help choosing one. Something in about the 75$ range sounds good for me. I have my concerns about choosing the correct one, i.e. I was told by a friend how his card saves triple the footage in the same memory space as another.
any ideas, links, etc.?

Here's a link to a previous thread regarding caputre devices. Keep in mind that there are internal video cards that can do the same video capturing as the external boxes. The ATI All-in-Wonder card is a good choice. This thread has some other video card choices as well as some discussion about computer upgrades.
