i was at www.dslreports.com and i was using the speed tool and it said that my speed is 1258kbps download 259kbps upload is that good or bad? my upload seems pretty slow, and i am supposed to have adsl witch is supposed to be as fast as t1 (according to my dad..i told him he is full of shit) is my low upload speed the reason for my shit connection? also here is something interesting this is on game spy it basicly tells u a few reasons on what causes good and bad servers xbox.gamespy.com/articles/598/598420p1.htmlbasicly it says.ther reason tyler has such a good connection is because he probly lives near one of those servers it talks about

i thought it was because i have T1..
=edit=
Rory is this what you are talking about?
It's somewhat correct but that's not what makes my connection fast or slow. It would just give me a little advantage. Not anywhere near host advantage.. and especially since all of us are in north America its practically non-existent.

Should we all post our upload speeds here, so we can see who would be the best host in a custom game? mine is: Upload = 301.45 kbps. Yeah, I've seen better (Damned DSL)

Yes your upload speed is what causes your crap connection. But you may want to retest you connection with all the other computers off the network traffic, including your xbox. You may find that your upload speed will go up some. Most likely, you have a 384 Mbit max up and a 1.5 bursting to 3 Mbit down. This is a standard DSL connection and is in no way similiar to T-1 speeds. Tyler has a good host because of his T-1 connection. There are different versions of T-1 connections and Tyler may have the lowest but it's better than all of our connections. He'll still have times when he won't get host because of network traffic in his house and on the internet in general. Try www.pcpitstop.com to check your connection as well.

Even your sisters limewire running will effect your upload and download speeds. When running, she's sharing so people are downloading from her and if she's downloading at the same time then some of you upload/download bandwith is going to her. Hence the reason I said to test with them off.
