My xbox is broken, Rick.

I was playin' NBA Live 2005 with my cousin on Christmas Eve. The game was being retarded, so I half-pissed-offedly went over and kicked my xbox (not hard. and it was on the top of the box! not the front or anything.). Well, now it won't read discs and there's a little clanking sound when I open and close the CD drawer. I feel bad cause now we can't play anything.

If only I knew what was inside and how to open up the Xbox and see, I could probably fix this...maybe

Here's how to open the xbox. You'll need some torque bit screwdrivers and a phillips screwdriver. Please note that opening your xbox voids the warranty. See here for a tutorial on how to open it.

Does it boot up ok? You may have scratched the surface of the hard drive platters with that jolt.

The clicking sound could be from something getting in the way because the outer case is pressing on it somewhere. The dvd drive if fully enclosed so you may have dented the top cover for it which could be causing your errors. Just follow the directions I post for opening it and be careful.
