i am sooo happy with ubuntu...ive never had an operating system that updates more than once a year lol.....there are software updates almost every week, and i just upgraded from breezy badger to dapper
with the upgrade, its even more user friendly
oh jeeze i dont remember what i was trying to say
but anyhoo
get ubuntu
it never crashes, u never need to restart, there are window versions for every single programs, and if there isn't u can use a program called wine to run the window program..its rape

cuase its soo 1337 here is the link to the homepage www.ubuntu.com/there is a link on that page so u can order a free cd...hell i ordered a whole box of them and i paid no money www.ubuntu.com/desktopand here is a page showing its uses and how its better than windows some of the things that dont show up on the page are no viruses (there are only a handful of linux viruses) no spyware--u still get popups on websites but just turn on pop-up blocker on firefox and u will have very few...almost all spyware is made for windows so it wont effect ubuntu...and u can turn up the security level so u will be notified if anything is attempting to install itself CUSTOMIZEABLE...screenshots bellow 99% of windows programs work on linux, or have a linux version..in order to install a windows program all u have to do is install something called w.i.n.e here are some screenshots of what u can make your desktop look like....its your computer afterall..why not make it look how want it to look...theres even a way to make water ripples follow your mouse when its on the desktop      to view more go to gnome-look.org there are a few downsides ..as with all operating systems it is a bit difficult switching from windows to a linux system as it is very different u cant make it look cool with a few clicks, it does take a bit of effort and even though everyone in the ubuntu and linux community is trying to make things more and more user friendly, there are some things u will have to use the terminal for....however ubuntu is the most user friendly linux system i have ever used and this update has made it even better |

I have to say taht I was impressed with it so far. I downloaded the live cd and it seemed to pick up all the necessary drivers right away. I didn't get to go too deep into the OS but from teh little bit I messed with it, it seemed pretty cool. It had a nice interface for a non-linux user to understand.

Very good referral Rory. the default setup is really ugly, and the live cd slows everything down...but it picks up everything rathernicely and its fairly easy to learn and if u have a question ...no matter how noobish..ppl wont make fun of u on their forums |
