The networking error is something you may just have to contend with. If you've done everything like you said then the only other thing I could think of would be trying a faster connection speed. If you're on wireless try hooking up directly to see if that'll help. Everybody has issues with this same thing every now and then. It's part of the quality of service that the live team has programmed in so that everyone can have the best gameplay possible. When your trying to get into a game the live service is measuring your bandwith against the bandwith of the others in the room. If yours isn't as good as theirs or maybe it's better than theirs it's not going to let you in. That why when we have others make a room you can join. I think it reestablishes the connections and remeasures the speeds. Here's some stuff that may help. Live Connection DisgonsticsLag Free Gaming ArticleHome Network Equipment Compatibility Guide

I need to know what router you have so I can research it. Until then try putting your xbox in the DMZ of the router to see if that helps.
-edit-
I looked in an older post you made and found your router there. I noticed that you are on a wireless B network and is "capable" of up to 22 Mbps. If you're runing wireless see if you can get your folks to let you upgrade toa wireless G network. You only need 11Mbps connection to play live but the extra bandwith sure would help.
Make sure you download and read the section of the users manual regarding the wireless performance settings and the firewall settings. Also check to see if there are any ip address filters set to block the xbox access to the network. And lastly if the gaming mode on the router is not on turn it on. This option is located in the tools tab under the misc button.
The UPnp option is discussed in the manual as well. It doesn't affect anything as far as gaming is concerned that I can see.

Also try turning of the Stateful Packet Inspection (SPI). This is the filter that inspects INCOMING packets for visurs like activity. This may be causing a problem too.

Oh, i didn't know it was my routers fault Mees. Sorry. I will try to reduce the settings but i'm an computer nub, as you know. I'm happy though cause in matchmaking i usually get server host and as long as i keep getting server host i'm happy.
