Ok, i havebeen talking to a lot of friends about recording halo footage on VCR's, and they dont have a problem with it. Mine is set up exactly how the instructions say to, set to Video 1 (my channel on which i play halo on) and, i record, and no picture. It is a Sylvania DVD player with VCR, a SRD2900.

O.k. I cannot seem to find any information about this particular type of dvd/vcr combo unit. I did find similar problems with people tying to record from their video cameras to the vcr. They had the same problem, no picture but plenty of sound. On the pic I found of the combo unit, it shows a set of front audio/video connections. Have you tried using them instead of the video 1 connections in the back of the unit? Also, check to make sure the tv/vcr is on vcr otherwise it'll just record nothing. I've posted the link below on how to hook it up so you can check it again. Also, please verify that the proper cables are matched to the connections video to video and audio to audio. If you accidently cross one of the audio and video connections you'll still get sound but no picture. Other than that if you can see the game through the connections you have and it's still not recording there may be a problem with the vcr connections not picking up the signal but I highly doubt that. Most likely it's just a simple setting that may have been overlooked. Good luck and hope this helped a little. ;D Connecting XBOX to VCR

Thank you, it records now. I had my xbox through my tv, not through my VCR. Now, is there a way to transfer VHS to a DVD? We don't have a DVD recorder, is there a way to do it without it?

No you'll have to have some sort of dvd recorder be it on a computer or a stand alone one that'll record straight from the tv. UNless you can find a place that will transfer it for you but you'd be better of buying your own recorder. You can get one for the computer for about $50 US and a video capture card and record straight from the xbox to the computer. That's how most ofthe guys make their montages. See this thread for information. =Closed=
