Yo i was wondering the best way to fix a scratched cd. I have tried vaseline, toothpaste, and rubbing alcohol, but nothing seems to work. (I did only spend about 20 seconds trying it with each of those.) Does anyone know the best way to clean them, becasue i have been to many website, but i do not trust them as much as i do as TDC. ;D

Well, I believe some cd stores cell disk scratch repair, you can prolly find some at a major electronics retailer or maybe even a music store. Ask around. This is one of the only ways to repair scratches on disks. Try using google for other methods of repair. I googled your question and found this interesting piece of information. www.skippydisc.com/recommend.shtml

I too have used windex but it's not the best thing to use on the media because it can actually degrade the material.

I tried vaseline again, and it did not fail to load the map once today. I think vaseline really worked, since it filled up all the scratches.

I have teh disk doctor, and, while it does repair disks, it makes them look very odd, and sometimes messes up the disk. It has never increased problems before for me, but it has not fixed all.

I guess it would depend on the severity of the scratches as to whether it would be able to make them readable.
