If your router supports xbox live or gaming mode then you should not need any ports open, If you give me the brand name and model number with the serial off the bottom I can tell you if you need them or just go to the website for the manufacturer of the router yourself and look it up. You can also place your xbox in the DMZ (de-militarized zone) of the router. This will place it in front of the hardware firewall and give it full access to the internet at all times. Keep in mind that this could make it vulnerable to attacks (not like anyone would hack an xbox). You would also need to make the IP address on the xbox static (you can so this from the xbox dashboard in the network configuration settings) to avoid the xbox acquiring a new IP address from the router when the old one expires. An alternative to assigning a static IP on the xbox is to assign the current IP address for the xbox as a static DHCP address in the router. This is usually done under the DHCP tab or button selection. You will need to know the hardware id (MAC address) of the xbox to do this. You will also need to know the admin password for the router (and for the DMZ set-up as well). I've listed the some common router manufacturers support sites below as well as the Xbox.com compatible router listing. According to the dlink web site your router is xbox live compatable. Make sure that gaming mode is turned on and that you have the latest firmware. The most current firmware is ver 2.33 and can be found here. After you apply the firmware update you'll need to reset any filters that you had set-up. The most likely reason that you cannot join is due not to your network but because of the server your xbox connected to when you logged into live. Microsoft tries to keep people of the same bandwith together to make sure that there is lag free games. Most of the time this isn't a problem when joining games but there are occasions when you cannot join. Relogging in is usually the only fix. =Closed=
