I bought and played it a little yesterday, here are my initial impressions:
Graphics: Freaking great.
Storyline: Good, but we have seen it all before. Its just another science fiction game. At least its not another HL rip off with aliends taking over human bodies, or at least not thus far. So much of what I have seen comes directly from something else. I mean, there is even a hot chick that gives you tactical information, only she is real, not some purple computer program.
Gameplay: Pretty darn good so far. Obviously I am a noob after only 1 hour so the 3rd person view takes a little getting used to, as well as getting comfortable with the button set up. The "take cover" feature works really well, in fact you end up pretty much always utilizing it in battles.
Weapons: Pretty standard thus far. You have your assault rifle, pistol, grenades. The chainsaw is awesome. Those are the only weapons I have used. I hope some others come into play soon.
Multiplayer: I haven't played it yet so no comment.
Overall impression so far: Me gusta. Its fun, I hope the multiplayer is good too.

I played it just an hour ago at a friends house. i didnt like it too much but the graphics were amazing! i really hate how you have to hold down a button to run and once you do if you run into a wall it automatically takes cover which sucks when your trying to get away from somebody/something. The weapons dont really seem all that new but you can't really expect any new weapons out of any game.

The other thing about the running is that he ducks. Apparently he can go faster while crouching then when standing up.
And I realize that a lot games utilize the switch to grenades as they are another weapon, but I really enjoy the Halo style left trigger grenade.

yea taht bugged me ALOT having to switch to my grenade >.< and then they shout it out hahah "watch out bad guys im throwing a frag!" and while running it is really hard to turn..

First impressions:: ok i got the game and its bad ass the controls are i lil confusing (reloading!!) but once you get it down its a blast and i think that the story line thus far is a mixture of several movies but still interisting enough to keep on playing campain:; interisting a lil predictiable but a really fun game Graphics:: ..  .. .. dont need to say anything multi :: really fun the curb stomp makes it really fun to talk trash but finding a match takes a while like moste older games for xbox (and i tended to lagout a lot but thats prob just me) co op ::; is the shit makes it that much funer to do campain with a friend and make fun of each other for sucking (BTW i am king of the sniper 25 perfect realods with head shots boo yaaaa) Conclusin:: a must rent at the verry least but all in all a really fun game (funner than halo 2 by a long shot ) and i think it lives up to the hype (take that roggie your wrong admit it with honer) PS i suck at typeing and spelling so plz dont harpe on me a boot(canadan) it fakeem OUT |

I think it will take months before we can really compare it to Halo 2 or claim it lived up to they hype.

well the side of halo i see all the time is winers and cheaters so this is refreshingh to see an new game where i can talk some trash and cracking some skulls with out some one bitching about hoste or lagging me out
as for the hype it meets the quota for me just by shooting some one in the dome with the long shot and seeing thier braing
and lets not forget the chainsaw (even thou it douse glitch me out some times when thier multi enimes and the others wind up killing me but i look past that)

Man, Rick and I got pwned so many times it wasn't funny. Yeah, him and the Kryll don't get along. I'll announce it now: I GOT YOU ALL BAD! I've had GoW preordered for like a month and a half. I was planning on getting it all along. I just used it for a prank. PWN'D.

I...Love...This...Game
the controls are so easy to get used to, i got the reload down in just a couple minutes, and got both the reload achievements shortly after, there are about 10 or so weapons that i know of, and at least 5 different enemies, campaign isn't repetitive to me, some parts are kinda familiar though
co-op is also really fun
and so is multiplayer, along with the chainsaw and curb stomping
also the campaign is VERY long i have played it for many hours and i am no where near finished, which is awesome

The game is just unbelieveable. Co-op is extremely fun, and multiplayer is a blast when you get going in some 4v4 with people you know.
@ Jeremy: That was the point. You all believed I didn't like the game at all and wasn't going to get it.
