Woah, Woah, Woah. Dual Shock before N64 controller? No way. N64 should be 3rd, unless the dreamcast controller had analog. For the systems I can think of, wasn't the N64 the first to put mass usage of the Analog joystick? Or am I missing one?

THe dual shock sets the standard for the modern day competitive gaming controller. There is no way that the horrible designed N64 controller should go before it.

I think the pong controller is the biggest break through.

So, apparently I am the only one who loved the N64 controller. Oh well.

Also, the N64 control AND the Dreamcast control didnt utilize a built-in rumble feature. Both controls required an accessory in order to give feedback. The Dual Shock offered rumble to gamers without any add-ons. Also, its comfortable and VERY well designed.

I think the xbox controller S improved upon the dual shock, but I like them both, especially by giving the focus of the left thumb to a thumb stick rather than the d-pad.

I'll be honest, I can play at the same skill level with the thumbstick in either position. All it takes is a grip you develop for both, and they can be played the same way. (Hint: be able to play with your index finger on the joystick (also helps in halo when checking on scores) and don't use your index finger for the shoulder buttons. It allows the thumb to have the feeling of more room to maneuver, and if you have an injured finger, it can be replaced)

Plus the xbox controllers have triggers, which are sensitive to how far you depress them.

REALLY freaking sensitive.

Which makes racing games extremely accurate in acceleration/braking sensitivity WITHOUT the need for a steering wheel. Sure, the joystick sucks, but, it's better than PS2, where you had to use x for the gas.
