i am talking about single player.
halo 2 and halo 1 have sexy storys i would literally read 1000 books about the back story, main story, everylittle thing, its so cool
battlefield 2 has sweet single player gameplay (mainly because of the hotswapping) but the story is so gay,...gay ...gay....
unreal championship 2 has sexy game play graphics..but it has a very lame storym
my question is, would u rather play a game that has a good story, or do u look for gameplay
darkwatch has a cool story and its a cool game counterstrike on xbox is lame,,no story, gameplay sucks
the splintercell games....very slow and lots of waiting....the only reason most people still play it through all the waiting it takes for a guy to move, people still play it because the story makes u feel like its necesary to wait
CINEMATICS....cinematics and how they are shown makes a huge diffence on wheter i am going to think that the story is a good one or not

i usually look for a good balance for story adn gameplay halo 1 found the perfect balance because you can play campaign about 93,413,412,341 times before you even begin to get bored because the story is so good and the gameplay is amazing.

when it comes to campaign, it is true what tequila said, but then there is also the people who glithc and find easter eggs in teh campaigns. and when people hear about them, they go look for them. so the game play is still fun knowing that these things are there

I guess it depends on the game. Splinter Cell had both story AND gameplay, but, it took alot of practice to appreciate the game. Halo is great, I read the books, Im gonna see the movie because the story is THAT good, and Halo 1's campaign was great (not as much for #2) But, Multiplayer really shines. In my opinion, no game can become TRULY successful without great gameplay and an intelligent story, because without story, there is NO purpose to playing that game. I mean, even Donkey Konga has a story. THough, it doesnt actually need one.

Halo (1 & 2) pwns all the games you listed Rory if you judge gameplay and storyline. The only reason people don't like halo 2 is because of the cheating when you play online. I hear it all the time..."I haven't played in a month and guess what happens my first game back, I get modded!". People who use that as their reasoning for not liking a game haven't thought things through. There are so many ways to avoid cheating, people just take the easy route of matchmaking, which is where the cheating is.
I thought Halo 2's campaign was good, short of the ending. If bungie would stop playing stupid games with us and sack up and tell us when Halo 3 is coming out, it would make things better. Halo 2's campaing ending begged to be continued, and bungie would be morons (not that they aren't already) not to finish it. The music and the cinematic story telling sets it apart in my opinion.

agreed, it is a great balance between gameplay and storyline. I still think one game that could beat was pokemon; red or blue.
just kidding

I know i will probably be flamed for this, but, if you sit back and compare halo 2 to other games, the gameplay is much better than most, but the weapons are so unbalanced it takes out the fun of the game. Many shooters are better than Halo these days. But back on subject. Storyline is the reason I play games. You cannot get into a game without a storyline (Tony Hawk: American Wasteland), while games with an amazing storyline (Final Fantasy X) you can play for an extremely long time and not even realize how you play without getting bored. If you are like me, you play games with great storylines and literally forget about what is happening around you, like when you are sick, you feel fine while you play.

im not allowed to stay home sick from school. Tony Hawk is a sellout, Koston and Mullen are ten times better. Anyway Roggie I can agree what you are saying

halo 2 has sexy game play..i dont know how to explain it..but the way it looks and the way the hud interacts just feels different...i think its because bungie drew most of the textures themselvs, while these days otehr games seem to think its cool to take textures from real life
halo 2 weapns are more ballanced if u play on legendary, mostly because when the guys shoot back...they actaully hit u....legendary takes skill...even if u use only noob combo..it still takes skill
tony hawk only sells because the people that buy them are parents, and people who are not serious gamers, the people that buy tony hawk games are the kind of people that get bored of their xbox becauset hey dont have any good games

When I said that halo was an unbalanced game, I meant online, but... Stenda, you mean if you are puking everywhere, you have to go?
Back on topic: I do not understand how people can just play gaems that all you do is kill. It seems like it would get boring, don't you think?

I am not going to turn this into an argument thread. This is my last post on this subject. Halo 2 was great for a few months, but, now that other shooters have come out, people have seen how unbalanced it is. I talk to people on other games, and when you hear someone bring up halo, you hear way more unenjoyment sounds than enjoyment. Most people think it is unbalanced. It is great if it is just one weapon set, but if it is normal, it is weapon whore time. You never hear someone say weapon whore in other games. It is only heard in halo, because one person can get both pimp guns on a level and rape. Halo is just a game where people sit in pregame lobbies and chat. Games are just customs between a few people who are bored out of their mind, and the game is nothing like it used to be. Halo has been a bad game ever since the reset. The update corrected things, like grenades, but overpowered other guns. The reset led to more cheating, and everything has escalated. Cheating is not of my concern though. I can look past that. Just, when you compare Halo 2 to other shooters, Halo 2 is beaten.

the only thing i can think of that makes the game unbalance is the rocket launcher and the plasma pistol..they are 2 powerful...and the needlers are useless...other than that its ok

The rocket only has 4 shots before you need ammo, so it isnt overly powerful. It may be rigged in Assault or CTF, but that's all.
