AoR Scrimmage Results
TDC wins 3-1-1
Our first Halo 3 scrimmage was a great success (say in Borat voice if you like). Not only did we win, but the games really were a lot of fun (win or lose). So here is a re-cap of how things went down:
Participants:
TDC
Zangief
Hellion
Chief
Phoenix
Metalix Shadow
Roggie
Tequila
Mind Slaver
Adrenalin
Army of the Republic
AoR Sole
AoR DewMan
AoR Ferret
AOR frost
Levity X
AoR Nova
Oh and in case you didn't know, you can see any screenshots or videos that anyone took by clicking on game assets in the game results link.
Game 1: TS Narrows - AoR wins 75-71
This was our choice and proved to be an interested start to the scrimmage. It was crowded for a 6v6 game, but it gave us lots of action. AoR jumped out to an early lead but then both teams flip flopped back and forth during the middle of the match. In the end AoR got the kills when they needed to pull it off. At one point I heard Tequila describe the game play perfectly...controlled chaos.
My MVP Vote: AoR Nova
Game 2: CTF The Pit - TDC wins 5-1
I wasn't there for this one, if anyone who played feels like sending a paragraph to me, feel free to. I kept checking the score to see the progress. It tells flag captures but not what team is winning.
My MVP Vote: Chief
Game 3: 1 Flag Last Resort - Tied 1-1
This is a tough game type. It can be near impossible to get the flag but at the same time things can drastically change. And that happened for each team once during the game. We were on defense the first round and help them off til the very end. Then, just as time was expiring, they made a flag run and got it up the stairs to the laser spawn. We thought we had them stopped when we killed two the flag guy, but another guy behind picked it up and we couldn't recover.
We scored our flag in a similar way, they held us off most of round 2 but we made one flag run that paid off. Roggie had a clutch beat down with the flag to keep it alive. We almost pulled off the win in round 4 with an early 4 man mongoose rush. We got the flag all the way to near the beach wall but AoR utilized the bubble shield to guard it while securing its return. It was a very clutch move on their part.
My MVP Vote: Tequila
Game 4: Neutral Bomb Sandtrap - TDC wins 3-0
If there was one game I wasn't looking forward to, this was it. However, after a few minutes of running around like chickens with our heads cut off, we figured out what to do and had some really good team work. And to tell you the truth, this ended up being my favorite game of the scrimmage. I think we played just like Bungie would have wanted us too...vehicles were all over the place. But it did take good strategy to use them properly. It really was important to make efficient bomb runs in hogs or in a mongoose. The laser was key to control (just ask Chief, he had 10 laser kills) and so was using a hog with a gunner (Metalix and I went on a spree). Put all that together it took real team skill to win this game.
My MVP Vote: Chief
Game 5: TS Highground - TDC wins 75-61
At this point the in the scrimmage we were leading 2-1-1, meaning if AoR won this game it would be a tie overall. Believe me I thought we were in trouble because we found out in game 1 that they were a good slayer team. The game started well for AoR just as before, they jumped out to an early lead. But when we took the lead we never looked back. Again it was a little chaotic with 12 people running around, but still fun. There were lag complaints and in an ideal situation we would have replayed the gamed, but there wasn't time for that.
My MVP Vote: Hellion
Overall MVP - Chief
I'd like to say for our first official Halo 3 scrimmage, that was a huge success. Thanks to everyone in TDC who participated. And of course thanks Sole and the rest of AoR for fun and competitive games. We definitely look forward to a rematch in the future.
