What was I right about? And using an online translator doesn't mean you 'know German'. I just means you are capable of using inaccurate online translators.

Especially with German, words can take a couple meanings in different contexts, and tenses. The reason why you can't 'learn', as you aptly stated, from online translators, is due to the fact that they machine translate; meaning they give the first definition of the word on a word to word basis, not taking into consideration the context of the sentence or following words. Due to this, they are indeed inaccurate. Never use them to cheat on your Spanish homework, or whatever language you guys are taking in school.
